Hirunaka no Ryuusei is a manga written and illustrated by Yamamori and Mika. Suzume is a country girl who has to live with her uncle in Tokyo. Shishio, her uncle’s friend helps her when she gets lost in the city. In her new school, she finds that Shishio would be her homeroom teacher and she also befriends a shy boy, Mamura in her class. Is there a love triangle forming?
Suzume is lively, funny, rational, quite weird and wonderful. She is hardly a crybaby. The story’s plot is quite simple. It is the love story between the 3 characters. So, there aren’t any complex personalities in the characters. The story also has a lot of funny moments.
The art is beautiful and it fits the genre perfectly. It is graceful and neat. New characters enter the story gradually. But, a few events in the story seem to be forced. Moreover, apart from the main characters, there isn’t much of a development of the other characters as the story proceeds. They just seem to fill the backdrop.
Like most of the shojo mangas, Hirunaka no Ryuusei also has its own set of cliché’s but they are arranged quite efficiently that they are entertaining and not annoying. I would recommend this manga for readers who would like a light-hearted and funny romance story.
