Death Note Movie By Netflix-Report

 

Iconic manga Death Note receives live action movie adaptation. It is alleged that the production rights of the live action movie from its current owner Warner to the streaming giant Netflix.

On January 14, 2007, the Malaysian paper The Star stated that more than ten film companies in the United States had expressed interest in the rights for a Death Note remake.

On January 13,2011 , Deadline announced that the script will b written by  Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry and directed by Shane Black. But later Warner said  that         Gus Van Sant would direct the film since Shane Black was leaving for another project. On April 27, 2015, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Adam Wingard would direct the film, with the most recent version of the script written by Jeremy Slater.

Early on February producer Roy Lee said that they were waiting for an official “Go for it”! But then on Warner Bros hasn’t really spoken anything. But recently it has come to light that Warner Bros are in no mood of producing movies not relatively close to DC, Lego and Harry Potter.

On September 29, 2015, Variety reported that Nat Wolff was cast as the student who finds the Death Note(Light Yagami). On November 12th, 2015, Deadline reported that Margaret Qualley was in negotiations for the female lead. Asian-American actor Edward Zo posted a video about his personal attempts to audition for the lead role of Light, which he was unable to do because the role was limited to only white actors. Asian-American actress Arden Cho also criticized the whitewashing on Twitter, quoting actress Viola Davis saying, “you cannot win an Emmy for roles that are simply not there,” and added that there was a “LONG way to go for Asians when we can’t even book Anime.” No one from Warner Brothers has responded to the controversy.

Light Yagami (Or Raito) is an ace student with great aspects who’s bored out of his mind. One day he finds the Death Note a notebook held by a shinigami (Death God). with the Death Note in hand, Light decides to create a perfect world. A world without crime or criminals. However when criminals start dropping dead one by one, the authorities send the legendary detective L to track down the killer.

As of April 2015,the 12 volumes of Death Note has sold over 30 million copies. According to a survey conducted in 2007 by the Ministry of culture of Japan, occupies the 10th place among the best manga of all time. Death Note also has 3 live action Japanese films and an anime. Supposed to have ended short went on to become a full 12 volumes in manga because of its rising fame.
